Scam Alert – Acai Berry

I recently got an email from Brad Pilon alerting me that some of his photos from his own site have been hijacked and used on scam sites. I had a look at the sites and it’s not hard to see that they are all related. The sites are promoting acai berry weightloss stuff.

I’ve well voiced my opinions on acai berry weightloss scams before. There are so many scam sites out there you really have to be careful what you look at. Any site that makes amazing claims needs to be scrutinised very carefully. Especially all those “before” and “after” photos.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, acai berry is fine as a fruit but just a scam as a weightloss product.

The irony about Brad’s photos is that they aren’t even “before” and “after” photos. On Brad’s blog he was demonstrating what the difference a fake tan can make to photos. He just took one photo without the fake tan and then another with it applied. There was no dieting or weightloss involved!

It looks like the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in the USA is starting to crack down on these types of sites anyway. The buzz is that lately they have put out some new rulings on websites and blogs and how photos and testimonials are used. I’m no lawyer so I’m not going to try and explain their rulings here, but rest assured that these scams sites are being investigated.

In the meantime look after your money and only trust reliable sources for your health information.
